OVERVIEW

Pop-Bow is a pacifier-holding system designed to incorporate both comfort and practicality for people in and out of parenthood. Pow-Bow gives easy storage and access to pacifiers anywhere with one hand; its clip, pin, and strap attachment design can be worn or attached anywhere. The pacifier holder performs functionally and is intuitive to use through low-effort storage & release and easy cleaning. At the same time, aesthetic considerations mean it can be displayed and celebrated as a fashion accessory, with the incorporation of swappable center parts within the system, allowing it to be worn in different ways.

BACKGROUND

Throughout the many sacrifices parents worldwide make for their children, there is one that is often neglected, the loss of their life and identity before they become a parent.
Before becoming parents, we can often forget that they were their own people with their own personalities. My project aims to help the individual going through this transition into parenthood by looking at the hardship and challenges that lead to this change in identity. With the countless hours and effort put into raising a baby, it can be hard to even think about yourself and your wants and needs. This significant shift in character doesn’t mean that they need to sacrifice the part of themselves that goes beyond being a parent. But the reality is that this identity is often neglected in this hurricane of child-raising. This project is about changing our perception of how a parent should look, and I believe it starts with a choice, a choice for parents to accessories and gain back some control of their style.

CONCLUSION

Across all culture we all have a common understanding that mothers need time to recover and take care of the child after giving birth. There is somewhat of a correlation between how each culture treats mother and the number of maternity paid leave set by law.
